In our country, there is evidence of welfare for older peoplein ancient Greece which developed particularly in Byzantine times. * Today, beyond the retirement of older people, various programs are implemented concerned with both care and the use of the productive capacities of the elderly.
One of the most modern and innovative health care programs for
elderly people is the “Help at Home program”, to which
extensive reference will be made in the third chapter, after analyzing the needs, problems and rights of older people in the first chapter and, in the second chapter, state programs for the older people, services provided by voluntary organizations and the role of informal care of elderly people. Finally, in the fourth and fifth chapters, a Help at Home programme is evaluated, after processing, analysis and a presentation of the relevant research data.
