The Gerontological and Geriatric e-Library was created to facilitate access to reliable knowledge and information on ageing and related issues.
It brings together bibliographic references, scientific articles, books, reports, research papers, dissertations and other selected resources from Greece and abroad.
Bibliographic records are organised into thematic categories and enriched with information that facilitates their discovery and use, including keywords, publication type, source language and links to the original publication.
Particular emphasis is placed on presenting and documenting resources in Greek, making important Greek and international sources easier to discover and use by Greek-speaking audiences.
To make its resources easier to discover, Gerolib provides a smart search system designed specifically for the library’s content.
Visitors can describe the subject they are interested in using their own words. The search examines titles, abstracts, keywords, subject categories and bibliographic metadata, while recognising related concepts, synonyms, and Greek or English terminology. It can also understand references to language, publication type and year.
The search runs within Gerolib’s own infrastructure and does not send visitors’ queries to external artificial intelligence services. The feature is currently in beta and continues to develop alongside the library’s content.

Articles, books, reports, book chapters, dissertations, research papers and other publications from Greece and abroad.
The material is organised into thematic categories and subcategories, enabling systematic browsing across different aspects of ageing.
Where available, records include an abstract and keywords to facilitate the discovery and evaluation of relevant material.
Where available, links to the original publication, DOI, or files are provided to help users access the full material.
The content of the e-Library is selected, organised and documented with the aim of providing a useful and reliable source of information on ageing, gerontology and geriatrics.
The Library is continuously enriched with new bibliographic records and resources, with volunteers also making an important contribution to the development and expansion of its content.
The inclusion of a resource in the e-Library is for informational and bibliographic purposes and does not necessarily imply endorsement of the views, positions or conclusions expressed in it.
The Gerontological and Geriatric e-Library is an initiative of the Hellenic Gerontological and Geriatric Society (HGGS), aimed at collecting and disseminating knowledge on ageing and issues concerning older people.
Alongside the online collection, a physical library is maintained at the HGGS offices, including older publications related to gerontology and geriatrics.
The development and continued enrichment of the Gerontological and Geriatric e-Library have relied on the valuable contributions of researchers and volunteers, who have helped collect, document and update its resources.
The Hellenic Gerontological and Geriatric Society extends its sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed, and continues to contribute, to the development of the e-Library.
