Falls of the Elderly and natural environment – Risk factors and Occupational Therapy (Part A and B)

Abstract

Falls are a major problem with medical, financial and social impacts. Older adults in particular, after falling, show higher mortality, larger degrees of disability and dysfunction, anxiety, depression, and a decrease in their quality of life. Falls amongst the elderly are usually not the result of a single causative agent but  are complex events  caused by a combination of endogenous and exogenous factors. This article refers to these endogenous and exogenous risk factors.
